Dean Israelite was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and he was also raised there. He studied Dramatic Art at the University of Witwatersrand. Dean later moved to Australia, and he studied and graduated film and television from the Curtin University.
Dean later earned his MFA from the American Film Institute. He also has a famous cousin named Jonathan Liebesman who was also a director.
